Opening up about her initial struggle in the industry, she said that she was made to feel like she was making ‘unconventional’ films. “Now, I think there are too many unconventional roles that it’s become conventional,” she said in an interview with India Today.
Opening up about her spate of successes and the box office duds that followed, the actress admitted that she wondered if she needed to reconsider her decisions.
“I wondered if I had to look at a different kind of film. Maybe I wasn’t seeing success because I wasn’t doing the ‘so-called’ conventional films,” she told the portal.
However, looking back at the seven films that failed to perform at the box office, Vidya noted that the worst performing ones weren’t female-centric films but “were the ones with male heroes.”
She added that it was only then that she realised that it was all about making a good film. The star also said that she decided to just be authentic and continue to make her choices.
