The defamation case against Salman Khan's neighbor will now be heard afresh

New Delhi: A Bombay High Court judge on Thursday said that it is not possible to pass an order in a defamation case against Salman Khan’s neighbor. The judge expressed his inability to pass the order citing paucity of time. According to media reports, now another judge will hear the petition of Salman Khan afresh.

Justice CV Bhadang, who had heard the arguments in the case and has reserved his order, is retiring on Friday. Salman Khan’s appeal will now be placed before another judge and will be heard afresh. Justice CV Bhadang had in August commenced hearing on the appeal filed by the actor against the trial court’s order of March 2022.

The trial court had refused to restrain Ketan Kakkar, the owner of the land near Salman Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel, from posting a derogatory video against the actor. The court also refused to direct Ketan Kakkar to remove his earlier YouTube video. Justice CV Bhadang closed the matter for orders after the arguments concluded on October 11.

According to media reports, the High Court judge said on Thursday, ‘Unfortunately I am unable to complete the decision. I tried my level till last evening but unfortunately there was a holiday and then there was administrative work and I had other work. I have to list it for hearing.

When the civil court refused to pass any interim order against Ketan Kakkar, Salman Khan moved the high court. Bhaijaan’s petition states that the posts uploaded by Ketan Kakkar not only come under the purview of defamation, but are also of communal and inflammatory nature. Ketan Kakkar’s lawyers Abha Singh and Aditya Singh claimed that the actor had filed the defamation suit to pressurize his client to give up his land.
