New Delhi. A capital court has issued fresh summons to director Leena Manimekalai on a petition seeking a stay on the release of the film for allegedly depicting a Hindu goddess in an objectionable manner in posters and promotional videos of “Kaali”. Is. The court had earlier summoned Manimekalai on August 6, saying his side needed to be heard before passing any order. However, the hearing of the case was postponed as the judge was on leave.
Keeping in view the non-service of summons to the respondent Manimekalai and the producer company Touring Talkies Media Works Pvt Ltd, Additional Senior Civil Judge Abhishek Kumar directed to issue fresh summons through all means including email and WhatsApp. In the order issued on August 29, the judge said, “In view of the arguments, fresh summons should be issued by all means including email and WhatsApp on deposit of Processing Fee (PF).”
The court has fixed November 1 for the service of summons to the respondents in the case and arguments on the petition. The petition, filed by advocate Raj Gaurav, has sought a permanent and mandatory stay against Leena Manimekalai, accusing her of depicting a Hindu goddess in a highly objectionable manner in the posters and promotional videos of the film ‘Kaali’.
