Maharashtra’s daily Covid-19 tally drops below 2,000, three cases of Omicron sub-variant detected

Maharashtra recorded 1,885 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, down 36% from Sunday, and a single fatality, bringing the total number of infections to 79,12,462 and the death toll to 1,47,871, according to the state health department. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s report, Mumbai registered 1,118 new cases, down 38% from the previous day. On Mondays, Maharashtra reported a lower number of infections, owing to fewer tests performed on weekends.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra on June 14 when he will inaugurate Saint Tukaram Maharaj Temple in Dehu, Pune. The PM will also inaugurate the Jal Bhushan Building and Gallery of Revolutionaries at Raj Bhawan in Mumbai. Jal Bhushan has been the official residence of the Governor of Maharashtra since 1885. Upon completing its lifespan, it was demolished and a new building was sanctioned in its place.
