‘Koffee With Karan 7’ In the third episode of the film, Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar admit that it is very difficult to bring two A-list heroes together in the same film. Akshay said that he has to face such problems while casting for his film. Akshay’s ‘Garam Masala’ co-star John Abraham was asked about Akshay’s comment when he was in Delhi to promote his upcoming film, ‘Ek Villain Returns’. John was accompanied by his co-star Arjun Kapoor.
John Abraham said, “I enjoyed working with Arjun, Varun (Dhawan in Dishoom), Abhishek Bachchan (in Dhoom). I have done 3 films with Akshay. I will love him till his last breath. And I think he may be right to a certain extent. But I believe this is a place where we can work with two, three actors, maybe work with 11 people and make a sea. You can also make a sea of films with 3 or 4 people.
Akshay and John have worked together in ‘Garam Masala’, ‘Housefull 2’ and ‘Desi Boyz’. John has also been a part of other multi-starrer films like ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’, ‘Race 2’ and ‘7 Khoon Maaf’. Arjun, standing by John, agreed with his co-star. Arjun said, “To be honest, I have also worked in multistarrer movies, ‘Gunday’, ‘Bhoot Police’. I have always believed in actors, I think multistarrer films are a lot of fun because I grew up watching Subhash Ghai’s cinema.”
Arjun Kapoor said, “I have seen Anil Chachu (Kapoor) doing two hero films, John is talking about the films he has done. Perhaps Akshay sir’s point is that it has become difficult to convince people that the films they charge for, and the love they are getting on screen, because there is so much trust in them. More than insecurities, you also need to trust the people you are working with.”
Arjun said, “For example, on Ek Villain Returns, there is a trust, an honor because both John and I have worked with Mohit Suri before. When the right people come together to make a film with an ensemble cast, you know the producers, you know if there is anything that needs to be handled, then the characters in that film will be portrayed well.”
