According to official sources, the Centre agreed on Saturday to grant Kumar Vishwas, the former leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), ‘Y’ category security.
In the wake of Mr Vishwas’ claims against AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the central government evaluated his security and threat perception based on intelligence inputs.
According to the sources, after the review, it was decided to provide Mr Vishwas with ‘Y’ category protection under the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Mr Vishwas will be guarded by four personal security officers 24 hours a day, seven days a week, under the ‘Y’ security level.
During the high-voltage campaign for the Punjab assembly elections, Mr Vishwas accused Mr Kejriwal of aiding separatists, but the AAP president refuted the claims.
On Sunday, voters in the Punjab assembly elections will go to the polls.
